It works for me!

I was nervous when I saw the low ratings and reviews, but wanted to be able to read my Kindle books on my Mac. Immediately upon opening it, my mobile library was synced and when I opened the book I was currently reading it went straight to the page I was on. I can modify the text, highlight, search, etc. and it wasn’t difficult to figure out how to do this. It works exactly how I was hoping, so I’m confused as to why ratings are so low. If you need to access Kindle books on your Mac, this works great!
