Useless with Amazon Prime Book Lending Feature
The pictures of the app here are obviously not of the current version which is missing features it previously had such as the button to “Shop in Kindle Store.” There is no such button. There is no way to access content for purchasing, reading samples or especially the lending feature of an Amazon Prime subscription which it turns out simply isn’t supported by this app at all. I contacted their telephone support about this thinking perhaps I was missing something here and discovered the support representative was clueless also. I had to step them through attempting to find any book to borrow with the monthy Prime lending feature and read it on this app to demonstrate it is impossible. Later on further investigation I learned on some support page that basically just Amazon Kindle devices work for this feature of Prime anyway. So this issue along with no Apple TV support, etc. renders Prime pretty useless for those preferring the Apple ecosystem of hardware. Just a heads up primarily about this app but also about the service itself and even trying access books to read on this app. You have to go shopping on the web site, tell it to download to your account and then you can see it in the app. This is not exactly an elegant or friendly user experience and therefore I give this app the one star it currently deserves. I hope they improve it. I did bother to offer suggestions to that end to them. I’ll stick to iBooks. Per usual, while it might cost more Apple stuff just works.
